In one of the most surprising upsets in LSU baseball history, the Tigers were beaten by the Little Rock Trojans 10-4 Sunday night, forcing a winner-take-all game between the two teams on Monday.
LSU was the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional and before Sunday was 19-0 all time when facing a No. 4 seed like the Trojans.
Little Rock slugger Angel Cano was the hero for the Trojans, hitting a 2-run home run and driving in 3 more runs on a bases-clearing double.
The winner of Monday’s game will face the West Virginia Mountaineers in a best-two-of-three games Super Regional series next weekend with the winner advancing to Omaha, Nebraska and the College World Series.
Sunday’s game took nearly four hours to play, starting at 8 pm CST and ending just before midnight.
First pitch Monday between LSU and Little Rock is still TBD. Stay with WDSU for the latest.
